Irene Aspell, Painter & Printer
A career as an organic gardener inspired the series of oil paints and prints being shown by Irene Aspell. With a degree in Fine Art from MICA, Irene Aspell has grown heirloom vegetables and native plant gardens for years and loves all of the luscious colors and shapes found there. Keeping a flock of heritage breed chickens also inspires her art. This body of work is Irene’s attempt to make art with the interplay of colors, shapes, and light on the world of nature, be it animal or vegetable. Recently retired, Irene plans to continue trying to capture the sights of the eastern shore, where she lives.
Liz Steele Coats, Jewelry & Mobile Artist
Liz Steele Coats is an Art teacher, sculptor, jeweler and mixed media workshop director who has a passion for a variety of artistic media. As a creator, an arts advocator, an art festival organizer, and a mother, these different hats have allowed for her artwork to take flight in several directions. Her background in liturgical dance and music has had a tremendous influence on the fluidity and feminine curvature of her work. Liz received her B.S. in Art Education as well as her Master’s in Art Education from Tyler School of Art and has been teaching Fine Art since 2007.
